The Honda Formula 4-Stroke Powerboat Series is the largest off-shore powerboat championship in the world. With the help of eight-times Class 1 World Powerboat Champion, Steve Curtis, MBE, Honda launched the Series in 1999 in order to prove the performance of their newly launched BF130 4-stroke outboard. Getting involved is simple, and the rewards huge. Depending on experience, competitors can enter either the 150hp class, or go straight into the more aggressive 225hp class.

Setting a demanding but hugely inspiring challenge for powerboat enthusiasts everywhere, the Series has now witnessed numerous competitors progress from the 150 to 225 class, and has even nurtured talent that has graduated into Class 1. With only nine years on the clock, it’s an incredible achievement and testament to the significance of the Series in producing some of the best powerboat racers in the world today.

Since its creation nine years ago, HF4S has fundamentally changed powerboat racing in the UK. Its rapid development has seen it grow from just five teams competing in a single 130hp class in 1999, to more than 25 teams competing in two classes in 2006 – the 150hp class and 225hp class. And 2007 looks set to be bigger and better yet...

Taking place over five Grand Prix weekends throughout the UK, the championship is a strictly one-design Series so all engines and boats are identical – which means modifications are strictly forbidden. As well as testing driver and navigator skill to the max, this also makes HF4S one of the most affordable and accessible forms of motor sport, allowing the ordinary enthusiast to compete in a competitive championship at a national level. Compared to the costs and difficulties involved in car racing, the Honda Formula 4-Stroke Series is a far cheaper and easier way of getting that adrenalin kick!
