As the Sail, Power and Watersports Show heads happily towards this year’s finishing line this evening, the organisers are already declaring the show a fabulous success with record attendance and record sales being reported by Managing Director, James Brooke.
“There has been an overwhelmingly positive response from exhibitors and visitors alike and as a result, we will be back next year and are delighted to announce the dates for 2009 are 25 – 29 November.”

BOATBID AUCTION IN FULL SWING 29 November 2008 (454 reads)
The Earls Court Boat Auction has been extremely popular with 100 boats up for auction throughout the show.
Daily registering and bidding on the boatbid auction pod at stand H90 starts every day at 1000 and closes at 1700. Each day there are 20 boats up for auction, ranging from small family cruisers to a mock Spanish galleon. There’s even a British America’s Cup (GBR70), which raced in New Zealand in 2002, up for grabs tomorrow afternoon.

POLAR EXPLORER VISITS SHOW 27 November 2008 (267 reads)
Eric Brossier, the French geophysicist and yachtsman who made Polar history when he made the first uninterrupted circumnavigation of the North Pole by yacht, was in London yesterday.
Brossier and his family, who live on their 47ft yacht Vagabond, visited the Sail, Power & Watersports Show yesterday while in transit from Norway to Poland.

EARLS COURT - DAY ONE ENDS ON A HIGH 26 November 2008 (259 reads)

The opening day of the 2008 Sail Power and Watersports Show has been deemed a huge success by the exhibitors, and visitors to the show today. The day kicked off at 10:00 with the Royal Marines providing visitors with a fine display of abseiling as they shimmied down the face of Earls Court. Katie Derham, ITV newsreader and presenter, was then joined on stage for the official show opening by some well-known names from the world of sail, power and watersports including James Brooke, the show’s managing director, Geoff Holt the quadriplegic record-breaking yachtsman, Steve Curtis, eight times Class 1 powerboat world champion, and Jack Moule, the 14 year old UK jet ski freestyle champion. ROYAL MARINES MARK START OF SHOW WITH AN ABSEIL OFF EARLS COURT 26 November 2008 (318 reads)
Hundreds of visitors turned up at the opening of the Sail, Power and Watersports Show this morning to watch the Commando Display Team abseil off the roof down the front of building.
The team of six under the command of Captain Yapp shimmied down the face of Earls Court within seconds and then headed in the show to prepare for their next venture.
