Attwater Launches New Products for the Marine Sector
Products include masts, tiller extensions and safety rails
Custom Composites, part of internationally renowned industrial laminates and insulations materials business Attwater Group, has launched a new range of products for the international marine sector, including masts, tiller extensions and safety rails.
Custom Composites has long been associated with supplying lightweight, durable and strong products for the sailing community. In 2008, Gold medal winners for Team GB in Finn, Laser and Star classes all sailed with special carbon fibre tiller extensions and tillers made by them.
“Although our carbon fibre tubes have been used in steering equipment by many of the 'top end' international and club dinghy racers for years now, and we’re often asked to make high performance ultra-light 'specials” said James Saunders, operations manager at Custom Composites.
It’s not just competition racing yacht and dingy sailors who use these carbon fibre tube ranges. With the minimum weight properties and competition tuned performance required for today's leading-edge sports applications, Custom Composites’ glass fibre and carbon fibre tubes are also used as Formula one motor racing refuelling booms and in competition gymnastic equipment.
“Developments in technology within the last decade means that customers are requesting more and more products made from carbon fibre as it’s lightweight, durable and aesthetically pleasing,” says James. “Custom Composites has the technology to visualise, design and manufacture 3-D structures in carbon and glass fibre, which makes a tangible difference to the performance and longevity of the final product.”
