Northwich Marina regeneration plans

H2O, the national joint venture company owned by British Waterways and bloc, has submitted proposals for the regeneration of Northwich Marina.

The proposals would create a new marina providing up to 40 berths which will accommodate river and canal craft and will improve the river frontage allowing full pedestrian access along the east bank of the River between Hayhurst and Town bridges.

British Waterways is now advertising for one or more operators from the private sector to manage the existing dry and wet docks which are 400 yards south of the marina and the new moorings on site.Â

This would create better boating facilities for the area enhancing the waterways network for the benefit of all users.
The existing side slipway at the marina site will no longer be in use but will be retained as a feature of the development where visitors and residents can congregate and enjoy being close to the water.

As part of the development new extra care housing, by McCarthy & Stone, a new Waitrose food store and waterside restaurant/café will be created.

It is anticipated the scheme should be completed by summer 2013.

Interested parties in operating the docks and new moorings should contact Mike Coates, investment and development manager, British Waterways for further information email: mike.coates@britishwaterways.co.uk
