Innovative standard features, unparalleled user comfort
Tecma, the marine brand of Thetford, is nominated for the Design Award METS with its new portable toilet: Porta Potti Excellence. Next to the well-designed, reliable marine macerator toilets, Tecma extends its marine sanitary product line with a high quality portable toilet.
The Excellence differs not only in its unique design from any other portable toilet, it also distinguishes itself with its home-like toilet shape and seating height. In addition, the user benefits from a well-designed control panel with a pump, water-fill unit and water-level indicator, nicely integrated in the toilet.
Last but not least, a level indicator for both the waste-holding tank and flush-water tank is standard which means no more unpleasant surprises for the user, as the control panel tells them in time to empty the waste holding tank, or to re-fill the flush-water tank.
METS Trade Show - 15th–17th November 2011 - Stand 03.100
Wave International, manufacturer of the renowned Wavestream bilge filtration system, is to launch its latest innovation – The Wavebrite grey water filter system - at this year’s METS.
Suitable for a wide range of boats, Wavebrite is a unique filter unit that processes grey water from the source to overboard.
All grey water pollution such as soaps, shampoo, toothpaste, shaving cream, laundry detergents, hair, lint, body oils, dirt, grease and chemicals are effectively removed.
Clean water is then discharged with no need for grey water holding tanks - making for less weight and significantly reducing engine emissions.
High power WiFi that all crew can access
The Navionics charting app for the iPhone and iPad has been a popular choice for sailors, but a limitation has been connecting it to your onboard systems. Digital Yacht has produced a new product called iNAVConnect which acts as a wireless gateway for your onboard systems.
Raymarine currently support waypoint transfer from their popular C and E wide series multi-function displays, to the Navionics iPad or iPhone application, which allows you to create routes and waypoints on the mobile device. You can then transfer them across to your onboard system, which connects via WiFi, so no cumbersome cables are required. Many other manufacturers who utilise Navionic’s charts may add this functionality for the future, but at the moment it is just Raymarine’s popular C and E series.

Their first to harness built-in WIFI, multimedia and optional C-Map 4D charts
Always at the cutting edge of innovation, Standard Horizon has just launched the CPN700i and CPN1010i chart plotters, a new generation of touchscreen 7-inch and 10-inch full colour models with internal antennas, and packed with some innovative features.
Perhaps the most versatile advance is that both models are the first ever to have built in Wi-Fi, allowing the navigator to access the internet and email when moored in a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Movies and music can also be downloaded and played thanks to included Windows Media Player software and a USB port for a memory stick, whilst the plotters’ built-in front speakers are expandable via an audio port on the back to add a separate amplifier.
