BRIG BOATS ANNOUNCE NEW UK IMPORTER

For 2010 Brig Boats have appointed a new importer and distributor for their highly popular range of Rigid Inflatable Boats, Inflatable Boats and SOLA and Commercial Boats.

THM Watersports Ltd will be looking after their interests for within the United Kingdom and will be working in closely with 2 import partners Harbour Marine of Pwllheli and The Wolf Rock Boat Company that are based near Salcombe.

The 3 companies will be selling the leisure Ribs and Inflatables direct to the public and the commercial range will be supplied by THM Watersports.

LITTLE BRITAIN CHALLENGE CUP PRESENTS £100K TO NOMINATED CHARITIES

Construction industry regatta the Little Britain Challenge Cup held its annual charity cheque presentations at a reception in London last week.

Despite the economic downturn, and reduced numbers at the 2009 event, nearly £100k was raised for the event charities.  David Smith, the new Chairman of the event Committee said, “We started 2009 not knowing what the year would bring, but we couldn’t have hoped for a better event or the generosity of the entrants who helped boost our funds through the various fundraising activities.

THE GLAMOUR OF BIG CLASS CLASSIC YACHT RACING RETURNS TO COWES IN JULY

The Royal Yacht Squadron (RYS) and two partner Clubs, the New York Yacht Club  (NYYC) and Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM), are staging the Westward Cup regatta in Cowes from 5-11 July  2010 in collaboration with Boat International Media.

The organisers aim also to establish an event that would eventually lead to a revival of Big Class classic yacht racing as it was known from the  1910’s – 1930’s.

The Westward Cup has been initiated to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the launch of the racing schooner Westward in 1910. She was designed and built by one of the most successful yacht designers, Nathanael G. Herreshoff, in Bristol, RI, USA.

EXERCISE TRANSGLOBE UPDATE - SOUTHERN OCEAN AND CAPE HORN

Three new crews are preparing for the start of Leg 8 of Exercise TRANSGLOBE from Auckland, New Zealand although, right now, they’re at Project HQ at Fort Blockhouse in Gosport, Hampshire. 

The challenge that lies ahead in this next stage of the largest-ever adventurous training exercise ever mounted by Britain’s forces, namely taking on the Southern Ocean and rounding Cape Horn, demands that all participants have completed the RYA Sea Survival Course held at the Joint Services Sail Training Centre (JSASTC) in Gosport. .

ST MAARTEN HEINEKEN REGATTA - MATCH POINTS FOR BUDGET MARINE

With all eight entries now confirmed, this years Budget Marine Match Racing Cup at the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta is set to establish itself firmly on the ladder as one of key match racing events in the Caribbean.

As well as entries received from Peter Isler, Gavin Brady, and Peter Holmberg three of the worlds most respected match racing skippers theres some other interesting names in melting pot wholl be racing for cash prizes totalling $10,000 at this ISAF-sanctioned Grade 5 event, including Colin Rathbun, Eugeniy Nikiforov, Jakub Pawluk, Chris Nesbitt and Marc Fitzgerald.

The racing, to be held on Tuesday 2 March during the run-up to St. Maarten Heineken Regatta, will be based on a round-robin format and sailed in Lagoon Sailboat Rentals fleet of six Jeanneau SunFast 20s, without spinnakers.

CLIPPER ROUND THE WORLD RACE ARRIVES IN SINGAPORE

To the pulsating beats of 41 drummers, the Clipper 09-10 Race fleet made a dramatic entrance to Marina at Keppel Bay, Singapore, this morning. Waiting to welcome them and beating drums of their own, the spectators included families, friends and fellow crew who had flown in for the stopover.

Singaporean crew members, Nicole Ho, who is taking part in the whole circumnavigation, and marketing executive, Karan Teo, competing on Leg 4, waved to the crowds from the spreaders, 60 feet up either side of the mast of Uniquely Singapore as the home team entered the marina. Confetti canons fired multi-coloured pieces of paper over the crew to welcome them.

THE NEW STANDARD HORIZON GX2100E WINS NMMA INNOVATION AWARD

Standard Horizon has been announced as the winner of the Consumer Electronics & Software Category within the NMMA Innovation Awards at The Miami International Boat Show.

FAIRLINE ANNOUNCE PLANS FOR NEW 50FT TARGA

During this year's Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show, luxury motor yacht manufacturer, Fairline Boats announced plans to release a new addition to the Targa express cruiser range. The new Targa 50 GRAN TURISMO will be launched late 2010 and her first show debut will be at the London International Boat Show 2011.

The development of the Targa 50 GRAN TURISMO follows the world launch of the all-new Targa 58 GRAN TURISMO at the London International Boat Show last week.
