Adventure has had trouble with her Satcom so Disco has been providing the daily weather update to all 3 yachts.

Finally, when Challenger was roughed up by the weather bomb, tremendous moral support was given between the 3 skippers in their daily HF calls while Challenger made good the damage to her sails.

If you could distil, bottle and sell the sense of teams working within teams, you would be rich beyond the wildest dreams of man.

PIRATE VICTIMS SPEAK OF THEIR ORDEAL
29 October 2009 (736 reads)

Paul Chandler has spoken to ITV News this evening about the terrifying night pirates hijacked their yacht. 'I was off watch. I was asleep and men with guns came aboard. It was on Friday last week at 0230,' said Paul Chandler, whose identity was confirmed by Rachel Chandler's brother Stephen Collett.

'They kept asking for money and took everything of value on the boat.' The pirates then headed for the Somalian coast onboard the Chandlers' Rival 38 Lynn Rival, where they were spotted by an airborne patrol.

Paul and Rachel Chandler were being held in the hold of Kota Wajah, a hijacked Singaporean container ship one mile off the coast of Somalia.

THIRTY FOOT YACHT HITS BRIXHAM BREAKWATER
24 October 2009 (1676 reads)

A thirty foot long yacht this evening sailed straight on to Brixham Breakwater to the amazement of several people who were out for a stroll in the fine weather.

Two members of the public, realising that there was obviously something wrong, slithered down the steep seaward side of the Victorian Breakwater and boarded the yacht. An other bystander telephoned the Coastguard to summon help from the RNLI Torbay Lifeboat, which was stationed less than half a mile away.

To their surprise, the two members of the public found the skipper of the yacht asleep in the cockpit! When they woke him, he was apparently a little the worse for wear, having consumed a little too much alcohol.

VETERAN SAILOR READY FOR EPIC ATLANTIC CROSSING IN 3FT BOAT
22 October 2009 (937 reads)

It’s taken a long time to get ready for this epic voyage, but finally, Tom McNally (affectionately dubbed the ‘Crazy Sailor’) is almost ready to set off on his epic voyage in the world’s most diminutive trans-Atlantic sailing boat, the amazing 3-foot 10-inch ‘Big C’.

Tom, who is sailing for the Sail 4 Cancer charity, had hoped to embark last year; but his plans were scuppered when thieves stole his main battery-housing and the lead-filled keel bulb for their scrap value.

“Thanks to some help from my sponsors we are back on track and we can see light at the end of the tunnel again; I just hope it’s not another train,” joked Tom at the Southampton Boat Show.

PRINCESS YACHTS GET LLOYDS TSB SUPPORT
22 October 2009 (1144 reads)

Following the news earlier this year that Princess Yachts is to begin building a new range of tri-deck cruising yachts over 30m (100ft) in length, the UK boatbuilder today revealed that it is receiving "financial guidance and support" from Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets on various international trade issues.

Princess is currently working on the design and manufacture of its new M Class series, the Princess 32m (105ft) and Princess 40m (130ft), at its newly acquired site at Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth. The two yachts will be Princess Yachts' first-ever, tri-deck models, and were designed to meet customer demands for increasingly larger, high-performance vessels.
