Southampton based, Discovery Yachts has announced the birth of its new Discovery 50 Cat. Released from the mould this week at the Marchwood factory, the new yacht is scheduled for completion later in the spring of 2009 when the company chairman John Charnley (pictured) and his wife will sail the yacht to the USA in time for the US Sailboat Show in Annapolis.
This is the first catamaran built by Discovery Yachts which has an enviable reputation for its superb ocean going cruising monohulls. Nearly 30 Discovery 55's have already been built and the design will be joined next spring by the new Discovery 67 and the stylish new Catamaran. At 50 foot in length and over 25 foot wide the yacht has exceptional accommodation with 4 bathrooms, light and airy living quarters and vast entertainment areas on deck and in the saloon.
Designed by world leading design house Dixon Yacht Design the Discovery 50 Cat provides a strong, safe and fast hull, while superyacht stylist Ken Freivokh has created a stunningly luxurious and practical interior for comfortable and easy living.
Discovery Yachts is one of the only UK sailboat builders to manufacturer the complete yacht from the mould to completion at its own premises. The quality that the skilled workforce is able to produce is evident in its award winning Discovery 55 and they look forward to repeating the success with the new Catamaran.
