This year's PSP Southampton Boat Show will sees the introduction of the latest addition to the Adventure RIB family from Avon Inflatables, the UK's leading manufacturer of RIBs and inflatable boats. As a replacement for the Adventure 450, the new 470 offers customers the same fantastic features of her predecessor, with one major difference - you get a bigger boat for the same price!
With an overall length of 4.70 metres and a 2.05 metre beam, the latest Adventure from Avon is not only longer, but wider, meaning that it now has a 9-person capacity instead of the 450's 8-person, so that even more people can enjoy the thrilling ride on this 4 x 4 of the sea.

| CHAMPAGNE SAILING FOR 22ND LITTLE BRITAIN CHALLENGE 14 September 2009 (585 reads)
Champagne sailing conditions have made the 2009 Little Britain Challenge Cup (LBBC) a regatta to remember with a three day race programme filled with steady sunshine and north north westerly winds.
Since the event’s inception in 1988, Europe’s largest annual construction industry regatta has raised over £1m for sailing charities to help disadvantaged or disabled people to experience the world of sailing. This track record of fundraising was continued this weekend, with just under £20,000 raised during the three day event. This sum is likely to rise to around £50,000 once profits from the event have been taken into account.

| THE NEW DIGITAL YACHT WL400: HIGH POWER LONG RANGE WI-FI FOR BOATS 13 September 2009 (707 reads)
Digital Yacht have launched a new high power long range Wi-Fi access system called the WL400. It allows boat owners to connect to Wi-Fi hot spots so that their on board PCs or laptop can access the internet.
With internet connectivity on board, you can download the latest weather or chart updates as well as catching up on a few emails when you’re missing work! Most harbours and ports have either free or subscription based services available and with the extended range that the WL400 offers, it is often possible to tap into hot spots available in local cafes, bars and restaurants. The system comprises a rugged 1 metre antenna which connects to a PC via a standard plug and play USB interface. All the electronics and modem are encapsulated within the antenna for easy installation and there is no need for an external power supply. The system picks up power from the laptop or onboard PC.

| DEJA VU AT THE 2009 HONDA RYA YOUTH RIB CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL 13 September 2009 (990 reads)
It was a case of deja vu at the 2009 Honda RYA Youth RIB Championship Final when reigning champions Aaron Lowther, 16, and Steven Curtis, 12, both blasted their way to Championship victory once again at the PSP Southampton Boat Show today (Sunday 13th September).
Having each won their respective titles in the 2008 final, there were high hopes for repeat success in 2009 when they each qualified to represent the Eastern region in the final once again. Both boys beat off competition from 30 other kids from around the country to win their respective classes and clinch the coveted titles once more.

| WINNERS OF THE GREEN BLUE PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION ANNOUNCED 11 September 2009 (377 reads)
Record breaking solo sailor Dee Caffari and Mike Golding, one of the world’s best offshore racing sailors today (Friday 11 September) unveiled the winners of The Green Blue’s photography competition; ‘The Good, The Bad and The Funny’ at the PSP Southampton Boat Show.
In ‘The Good’ category it was David Cardy from Selsdon in Surrey who claimed the winner’s prize of a Henri Lloyd Shore jacket with his image of ‘Dolphins at play’ which was taken from the bow of a tourist boat (The Ionian Princess) in Lefkada, Greece. In ‘The Bad’ category, Dominic Walton’s ‘Nest ‘o’ trash’ took the honours. Dominic from Southsea in Hampshire took the picture of the nesting birds and chicks on the North Sea Canal in Amsterdam, whilst in ‘The Funny’ category it was Andrew Stewart, from Alresford, Hampshire’s basking ‘Sea lions in San Francisco’ who claimed the win.

| DEE CAFFARI OPENS APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2010 RYA CLUB OF THE YEAR 11 September 2009 (342 reads)
Record breaking yachtswoman, Dee Caffari, today (11 September) opened applications for the RYA’s 2010 Club of the Year Award at the 2009 PSP Southampton Boat Show.
Joined on the RYA stand (E039) by RYA Volunteer Development Officer Jackie Bennetts, Dee posted the first entry to the 2010 competition. “Clubs play a key role in getting more people into our sport whether that’s windsurfing, powerboating, motor cruising or my favourite yachting! When I started out sailing my club offered me a huge amount of support and that has played a massive part in getting me to where I am now. Without that I wouldn’t have been able to achieve everything I have”, commented Dee, a member of Royal Southampton Yacht Club.
