Two competitors taking part in the Powerboat P1 Grand Prix in France had a lucky escape when their powerboat flipped and crashed during training.
Driver Andy Wilby was in the Team Sunseeker boat as it "barrel-rolled" while throttleman Peter Little was thrown clear in the crash on Saturday.
The pair suffered bruising and were left shaken, a spokesman for the team, based in Poole, Dorset, said.
Attempts to salvage the boat, off the coast of Marseille, are under way.
Mr Wilby, of Fleet, Hampshire, was in the boat as it turned over before eventually being "sucked out" into the sea when the boat came to rest upside down.
"It skipped once, and then when it skipped again, I knew we were in serious trouble," Mr Wilby told BBC News.
'Turbulent water'
"As it went over I just hung on and almost closed my eyes, but I didn't - I saw it all happening in front of me, which is a bit scary."
Mr Wilby and Mr Little, of Kidlington, Oxfordshire, were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
"The sea conditions changed and were rough this morning," the team manager and Mr Wilby's father, Mel Wilby, said.
"It would appear that in the turbulent water and wake from other competitors, the boat dug-in and pitched."
All efforts were now being concentrated on repairing the powerboat in time for the Maltese Grand Prix in June, he said.
