The new, multifaceted Sovereign Quantum Marine Electronic Moisture Meter is successfully winning over Marine Surveyors, who are especially delighted that the results are displayed instantly when changing between Deep and Shallow moisture readings of the substrate.
This allows the Surveyor to make immediate comparisons that would have been unavailable previously and so produce a more comprehensive report of the moisture profile.
An additional facility is the check for potential condensation on the substrate of surfaces being assessed.
A thermistor on the sensor is placed onto the substrate and the meter automatically displays how close the substrate is to Dew Point, relative to the surrounding air temperature and humidity.
This essential information removes timing uncertainties and ensures operatives can choose the moment when specialist coatings will be applied, which in turn will ensure best possible adhesion is achieved to the substrate.
A full chapter on using the Quantum for assessing FRP is detailed in the soon to be published, “ Surveying Yachts and Small Craft, A Hands on Insiders Guide to surveying Second-hand FRP Boats” by Paul Stevens, Publisher: Adlard Coles. No: ISBN 978 14081 14032
