MEN OF MISTLEY GO BALLS OUT TO SAVE QUAY

The 2009 MEN OF MISTLEY calendar goes on sale on Monday and on Thursday 27 November at 7.30pm Free the Quay will be the special guest of the Electric Palace cinema, launching Men of Mistley 2009 with a screening of On The Waterfront, the Oscar-winning 1954 classic movie that inspired the calendar.

Over the weekend of 28 October, dozens of Mistley men opposed to thefence onMistley Quay posed in front of it for Free The Quay photographers, recreating scenes from the movie (plus several others of their owninvention).

Now they all appear in the full-colour A4 calendar, printed byTuddenham Press.

"People say what women find most attractive in a man is a good senseof humour,' says Kate Worsley, "and the Men of Mistley have provedthey've got that – and more!

"We were amazed by how many men turned up, and how brilliantly theyperformed. The initial shots were pretty faithful to the movie, butthen the shoot took on a life of its own, At one point a man in a WW2jeep drove by, and volunteered his vehicle as a prop, Other menbrought rugby balls, pepper grinders, paddles..."

It's turned out pretty eyepopping, but the only thing obscene aboutit is the fence!"

The calendar costs £5 and will be on sale at: Mistley Post Office,The Mistley Thorn Hotel, Mistley Quay Cafe and Platform@ MistleyStation, as well as Lucca Enoteca in Manningtree.

The orderline number is 01207 391 214.
