TWO SOUTH COAST MARINAS WITH BERTHS AVAILABLE, AND ATTRACTIONS GALORE

Boat owners looking for a new home for their sailing yacht or motor boat like to be getting more than just a ‘hole in the water’ for their money. If you go boating with your family (especially if it’s a young one) you need extra attractions to enjoy.

Of course each marina has its own unique character. And a good marina should also offer shore attractions and facilities (for those stormy, wet days when the family would rather not put out into the open sea). Chichester marina, for example, offers the many charms of the nearby historic city, a local falconry attraction, horse and motor racing at Goodwood, long sandy beaches at the Witterings and extensive estuary waters for scenic, sheltered boating and beautiful beach strolls.

Then there’s the marina based Chichester Yacht Club (www.cyc.co.uk) with its brand new buildings and excellent catering. But the Club offers more than just food, drink (open seven days a week) and social gatherings. It also has active yacht, motor boat and dinghy sections that put on a wide variety of events throughout the season. Which means that Chichester based boat owners are able to get to know like-minded enthusiasts (and their families) in pleasant surroundings and take part in ‘cruises in company’ or regattas. Membership categories include family, individual, student and cadet.

Further to the west, Port Solent is another marina with several extra attractions. There’s a multiscreen cinema and David Lloyd fitness centre; and a wide selection of restaurants, bars and shops on the Boardwalk. And of course the attractions of Portsmouth (The Historic Dockyard: HMS Victory, HMS Warrior, and the Mary Rose alongside the Spinnaker Tower etc) provide extra family outings close by for those days when the weather is not so good.

Both marinas have availability at 8, 10, 12, and 14m ranges at very attractive rates.  And every twelve month Premier Berth Holder is entitled to the Premier Advantage. Motor boat owners will be pleased (and possibly surprised) to hear that diesel is sold ‘at cost’ to Premier berth holders.  The advantage scheme also includes 12 free visitor nights at other Premier Marinas, storage ashore, SeaStart benefits, discounted boat yard services and insurance and much more.
