MASTERVOLT APPOINTS NEW DISTRIBUTOR FOR SWITZERLAND

The Dutch-based marine electrical specialist Mastervolt has appointed Marine Parts Technics AG as official distributor in Switzerland, a country famous for its navigable freshwater lakes.

Marine Parts Technics AG was founded in 1991, and stocks a wide range of marine electronics and electrical appliances, such as bow thrusters, trim tabs, navigation equipment, and refrigeration. The company is based at Winterthur in the Greater Zurich area. Already very successful with the five Navico brands, Marine Parts was looking to expand their business with an integrated system that would allow the full management of a boat’s electrical power supply.  As Mastervolt offered all the solutions they needed, including innovative new battery technology for electric propulsion, Marine Parts recently made the approach to become suppliers.

Switzerland is a popular boating area, with 16 lakes of more than 10km2, including the giant 580km2 Lake Geneva, shared with France. Another 40 lakes are over 1km2, so it’s no surprise that there are around 100,000 boats registered to use them. The Swiss government, however, have a strong focus on emission-free boating, so Mastervolt’s powerful Lithium Ion batteries and ‘intelligent’ recharging systems will be important products for Marine Parts Technics portfolio.

Originally developed to power small portable devices for long periods, Li-Ion batteries are key to the future of endurance electric boating and easily outperform even most efficient lead-acid batteries. They provide a much deeper (80%) discharge capacity, and a lifespan three times as long. Li-ion batteries are also three times smaller and three times lighter than conventional types.

Commenting on becoming a Mastervolt distributor, Marine Parts Technics’ CEO, Fabian Kraemer said “Our company is well known as being very experienced in the sale, installation and maintenance of electronic equipment. We are happy to complete our product range with a high-end brand, which covers all the needs of the pleasure boat owner.”

Paul Kenninck, the CEO of Mastervolt BV remarked “We’re delighted to welcome Marine Parts Technics AG as a Mastervolt distributor. With such an emphasis on environmentally friendly boating in Switzerland, this will be an important market for new product developments such as our exciting new Lithium Ion technology.”
