The new Nalu Paddleboard from Ocean Kayak is a great way to have fun on the water. It can be paddled when standing or seated, which means it is very versatile for all sorts of water conditions. Designed to cruise along on oceans, lakes or rivers the long waterline with plumb bow gives it lots of speed but it is still very stable so is ideal for the entry level paddler.
The Nalu is the first ever paddleboard from Ocean Kayak, the world number one when it comes to sit-on-tops. As a pioneer in the paddlesports industry for over 35 years Ocean Kayak has considered every detail to ensure the Nalu offers peak performance at an affordable price.
Features include dedicated areas for sitting and/or standing and this is the first paddleboard on the market that will accommodate a backrest. It is also one of the few rotomoulded polyethylene paddleboards so is durable, stable and very tough. It is also easy to transport, store and is maintenance free.
The Nalu couldn’t be simpler to launch and paddlers of all ability levels will quickly get the hang of it. Paddleboarding is easy to do and a great way for watersports enthusiasts of all ages to get exercise. When you paddle standing up you give your body core as well as your legs and arms a workout. It helps your balance, uses pretty much every muscle in your body and the exercise rate can be as gentle or as vigorous as you like.
The Nalu is 3.35m (11’) long, 79cm (31”) wide and includes moulded-in fins for outstanding tracking. Two self-draining scuppers are built in and ergonomic handles make it easy to carry around. A special dual purpose paddle known as the Taboo hybrid is available from Carlisle. This unique paddle comes in a kit with two T-handles so when used as a stand up paddle the length can be adjusted to suit the user’s height. There is also a separate clip-on kayak blade so it converts to a 230cm (7’ 6”) kayak paddle. The paddle accessories can be swapped easily and stowed using the storage bungee on board.
The Nalu will be available from Johnson Outdoors dealers later this year.
