Barton Marine, one of the leading manufacturers of deck hardware joined forces with distributor Navimo to triumph in the 5th Marine Industry Sailing Regatta at the Solent on the 15th of July 2009. The joint team took part in the annual competition which helps raise money for the John Merricks Sailing Trust.

The John Merrick's Trust, which gives young people financial support in order to help them reach the top of sailing, has received over £14,000 in fundraising from the regatta.

The racing took place under the lee of the Island near Ryde and started off in fairly tough conditions with 35 knot winds and heavy cloud. Conditions improved as the day went on and the Barton/Navimo crew came out on top with two firsts and a third over teams from both IPC and Sunsail.

Commenting on their result, Barton Sales Manager and the team's Mainsheet and tactics man on the day, Christian Brewer said, "I'm very pleased with our result and would like to thank our team for giving it their all; I have to admit, I was pretty relieved at the no spinnaker rule, it was really breezy out there!"
