The RYA confirm that a fatality occurred during the Dover Regatta Challenge on Saturday 8 August as the result of two powerboats colliding.  

13 boats were competing in the OCR class when the incident happened during the third race of the day.  Medical assistance was at the scene within minutes of the incident and the emergency services alerted.  

The RYA is working closely with the authorities on a full investigation into the incident. No further details can be given at this point.
