Protest group Free the Quay is launching a legal bid to restore public access to Mistley Quay on the River Stour, on the second anniversary of the erection of a controversial fence at the quayside.
FTQ is applying for the historic quay, to which the public have enjoyed free access for hundreds of years, to become a village green under the 2006 Commons Act.
On Friday 17 September FTQ published an open letter to quay owners TWL Logistics, asking it to join in the application and to take the fence down, saying FTQ would pay for a suitable alternative barrier if necessary.
From today, visitors to The Green Directory, a joint initiative between The Green Blue and Sailing Networks, a social networking site for the boating community and marine industry, will experience a great new look, easier navigation and more information than ever before. Jane Swan, The Green Blue Project Manager explains: “As well as having a design facelift, visitors will be able to locate the site with ease and by simplifying the product categories it will be quicker to add or search for products.”
Ladies Day returns to the PSP Southampton Boat Show tomorrow, Thursday 16th September.

Fresh from sailing around the south coast of England for ITV1’s recent All At Sea three-part series, Dawn Porter and Nick Hancock officially marked the opening of the PSP Southampton Boat Show in Mayflower Park today, Friday 10 September.
Taking advantage of their new-found sea legs, Dawn and Nick arrived into the Show’s marina onboard an original World War Two RAF high speed rescue launch. Completing the line up, a World War Two Royal Navy Motor Gunboat and the Grace Spitfire ML 407 helped to kick off the celebrations.
