NEW - BRP'S EVINRUDE 300 HP OUTBOARD ENGINE

Visitors to the BRP (E60) stand at this year's PSP Southampton Boat Show will be able to find out more about the Evinrude(®) E-TEC(®) range of outboard engines and the latest models in the line-up, including the new Evinrude E-TEC 300 hp which will be on display at the Show for the first time.

The Evinrude name has been synonymous with advances in boating ever since Ole Evinrude invented the world's first commercially successful outboard 100 years ago. Today's smooth as silk Evinrude outboards use direct injection E-TEC technology to deliver exceptional power and performance as well as low emissions, ranging from 25 hp up to 300 hp.

The new Evinrude 300 hp continues the innovation, performance and ease-of-use that are integral to the entire range. The 300 hp model wraps a big block two-stroke direct injection power plant in a compact, lightweight design that provides more performance than competitive engines at the same horsepower. One of the biggest benefits of BRP's unique E-TEC technology is increased fuel economy and extended boating range. Performance testing has shown that the 300 hp engine can deliver as much as 35-40-percent improvement in fuel economy and 50-percent improvement in oil consumption when compared to traditional electronic fuel injection (EFI) models.

The Evinrude engine delivers an exceptional power to weight thanks to its compact and light design, which has enabled its assembly head to consist of only two parts. This means there are no belts, no timing chains, camshafts or valves to change, resulting in no scheduled dealer maintenance required for three years or 300 hours.

The Engine Management Module on each Evinrude engine works together with a fully stratified combustion system to provide the exact amount of fuel needed to create the power. The combustion system also plays a fundamental role in keeping emissions low, ensuring low carbon monoxide emissions as well as ensuring fuel charges never escape the combustion chamber.

Visitors will also be able to view a selection of Evinrude powered boats on display in the Show's marina. JBT Marine will be offering boat demonstrations onboard a 7.8m Ballistic RIB at berth 174 and Wills Marine is displaying a Nordkapp Avant 620 on berth 175.

2008 marks the 100th year anniversary of the Evinrude brand. Over the years, the list of Evinrude 'firsts' have included many innovations that helped maximise consumers time on the water, such as the first 200 hp V6 and the first outboard with electric starter. From the earliest innovations to today's E-TEC technology, Evinrude engines have been helping people spend more quality time on the water for a century.
