With only a few days to go before the first event of the season at Fistral Beach, Newquay, we have added some very exciting new sponsors as well as a superb evening attraction, the inaugural Rattler Rock Night.
Delays from earlier in the year as well as the gloomy economic conditions had left the organisers and the venue very little time to secure the sponsorship needed ensuring the safe running and promotion of the Zapcat Racing event but the recent weather has been of huge benefit.
“This is the first time I can really recall a sustained period of unseasonal sunny weather together with several bank holidays combining to have a very positive effect on the town and local businesses” said Nick Webb, Events Manager for the International Surf Centre.
“The thought of losing this event after all the hard work that has been put in by everyone concerned, especially The Fistral Beach Bar, Ann’s Cottage and Britanic Industries, who run the Fistral Surf Centre was just a nightmare."
“The Cornish Cyder Farm has stepped in with the rebranded Cornish Rattler Zapcat Grand Prix & Rattler Rock Night in association with Pampero Especial Rum and we have added to this fantastic package further support from Newquay businesses the Victoria Hotel and Sailors Club.”
“The pressure has been on from the start but it just shows what this town is capable of and as I have said before in this current time of public sector cuts and an uncertain economy, one thing is guaranteed is that people still want to be entertained, so it is down to council and businesses to work together to bring wonderful events like Zapcat Racing to the town attracting more families and short stay visitors.”
“The surf at Newquay has always created the most thrilling events of the Zapcat Racing calendar. We are looking forward to some great racing and a real beach party atmosphere in the evening.”

There are welcome drinks for the public to meet the racers on Friday 6th at the Prince Albert bar at the Victoria Hotel from 7pm. Which is also the official accommodation venue for the town.
