P1 Superstock - Fuel error cause of Helvetica Wealth retirement
Simple error halted promising round

Helvetia Wealth crew Shelley Jory-Leigh and Dan Smith are aiming for a strong conclusion to the Hull Grand Prix of the Sea weekend this evening (Sunday, 31 July) after a simple error with fuel quantity caused retirement during Saturday evening’s opening P1 SuperStock encounter.

Running in fifth position in the headline P1 250 Panther class up until lap eight, the boat began to slow and soon after came to a complete standstill...well, as much as you can come to a standstill on the waters of the Humber!

Shelley said: “The official line is...we ran out of fuel! So I’ve sacked my engineer and I’m now divorced! Seriously, we made a fuel boo-boo and that was it – I’m sure there’ll be something happen next time which is my fault, it’s a team sport and just one of those things.”

P1 SuperStock returns to the water at around 17.30 this evening with time-trial Match Racing for the P1 150 boats ahead of the second of the weekend’s Enduro encounters, the latter featuring racers from both categories – P1 250 Panther and P1 150.
