POWERBOAT P1 READY FOR DUBAI BOAT SHOW 26 February 2009 (492 reads)
Powerboat P1 will be in attendance at the upcoming Dubai International Boat Show, which takes place at the Dubai International Marine Club in Mina Seyahi on March 3-7. The event is expected to attract over 800 exhibitors and representatives from the marine industry and over 27,000 visitors during its four days.
US-based hull manufacturer Cigarette will be in attendance, along with a number of the championship’s partners and associated sponsors companies. The event will mark the debut appearance of Powerboat P1’s new simulator, which allows fans to take a virtual trip in an Evolution-class boat, using footage from 2008.

HAREB ELECTED PRESIDENT OF UAE MARINE SPORTS FEDERATION 23 February 2009 (504 reads)
Just days after announcing his decision to resume his role as President of the World Professional Powerboating Association (WPPA), Saeed Hareb has been elected President of the UAE Marine Sports Federation.
“I am grateful for the trust that the Government has in me and I strive to work towards our targets,” commented Hareb following his appointment, adding. “I also wish to thank Lieutenant General Saif Al Shaffar for his leadership and guidance all these years.”

CLASS 1 - SAEED HAREB BACK AT THE HELM OF THE WPPA 20 February 2009 (525 reads)
Following his resignation as President of the World Professional Powerboating Association (WPPA) last December, Saeed Hareb is back at the helm.
“After considering all the options before me, I have decided to return as the WPPA President and ensure there are changes in the functioning so that we are more effective with our presence on the local and international stage,” said Hareb. “We have a fantastic and thoroughly professional team with us in the WPPA and we are convinced I need to be here once again leading this group of professionals.”

POWERBOAT P1 - HUGE ACCLAIM FOR ITALIAN TEAMS 20 February 2009 (475 reads)
The leading Italian teams competing in the Powerboat P1 championship in 2008 swept the board at the 2008 Sports Awards of the Federazione Italiana Motonautica – the Italian governing body of powerboating. Double SuperSport champion Angelo Tedeschi – who also won the Italian and European titles – picked up a host of medals.
Tedeschi dominated powerboat racing’s SuperSport class last year, notching up his second successive title in Powerboat P1 with the #44 Conam Racing entry. The Italian shared the Mercury-powered Chaudron 41 with Maltese ace Aaron Ciantar, as they notched up a near-clean sweep of wins from last season’s 11 races.

F4SA ANNOUNCE NEW RACE FORMAT FOR 2009 SEASON 20 February 2009 (403 reads)
There's a new race format for the 2009 season Formula 4-Stroke.
It is intended that the first three venues Pwllheli, Plymouth and Lowestoft, will be televised. At the moment we are close to finalising a deal to do this. Assuming that this is successful then these three venues will comprise the F4SA Championship. Once the results of the other two (non-televised) venues are known then all five venues will comprise the Four Nations Championships.

Fountain Powerboats president and CEO Reggie Fountain, Ilmor High Performance Marine Engines president Paul Ray and #99 Fountain Worldwide 1st4boats.com crew members Craig Wilson and James Sheppard were on hand at this weekend’s Miami International Boat Show to receive their awards for winning the 2008 Evolution class title.
The quartet were formally presented with the handcrafted trophies – constructed from bronze and cherry wood by celebrated Italian artist Andreas Perathoner – by Powerboat P1’s commercial director Robert Wicks. “I’d like to thank Powerboat P1 for creating a fantastic event at each and every race,” said Wilson, who is president of Fountain’s international dealer, Fountain Worldwide. “I’d also like to think Fountain Powerboats, who have proved that they build the fastest V-bottom in the world.”

ZAPCAT CHAMPION BACK ON TOP 13 February 2009 (553 reads)
Last weekend saw the 2008 Zapcat National Champions Pegasus Vortex Racing head the to the annual RYA Powerboat Racing Awards Ceremony, at the De Vere Royal Bath to receive their 2008 Trophy.
Pegasus Vortex racing won the Championship back in September but Pilot Mick Pritchard had not been presented with the Zapcat Championship Trophy at the time as he was hospitalized following a broken back from the Friday’s racing at Watergate Bay. As all the Champions from the sport gathered to receive their accolades from the year’s racing, amongst them were World Champion Powerboat P1 Evolution Driver James Sheppard, and World F2 Champion Colin Jelf, and offshore World Class 3C champion Navigator Peter Phillipson..
