Martin Jupp is also the Managing Director of Vortex Racing Ltd - the UK’s leading Zapcat Dealer and Zapcat Experience / Events Company and whose race team are current National Zapcat Champions.

EXPECTATIONS HIT FEVER PITCH AS F1 SEASON KICKS OFF IN PORTUGAL 27 March 2009 (517 reads)
The 11th Annual Grand Prix of Portugal on the fourth and fifth of April marks an historic “first” on the U.I.M. F1 World Championship for power boating Tour as over 20 drivers from 14 different countries take to the opening round of the 2009 campaign on the Arade River along the lovely Algarve South coast. The weekend will introduce for the first time in the history of the sport two races featuring a Grand Prix on both Saturday as well as Sunday with 20 points up for the taking for the winner of each race.
“We are really excited about this opportunity to run two Grand Prix events in one weekend,” said series Promoter Nicolo di San Germano. “The race fans at each event this season will get ‘double the excitement’ more than a year ago and the drivers will get two chances to prove how talented they are in front of an international television audience and the tens of thousands of race fans that attend each of our events throughout the season.”

F4SA - WALES TO OPEN HONDA POWERBOAT GRAND PRIX SEASON 27 March 2009 (634 reads)
The Honda Formula 4-Stroke Powerboat race series will open its’ 2009 race season this year at Pwllheli, North West Wales on the weekend of the 9th & 10th May thanks to a couple of local powerboat enthusiasts who brought the event back after a six year absence.
The new rookie team from Wales consisting of Driver Chris Smith and Navigator Andy Musgrave will be competing in the 2009 Championship in their 150hp powerboat boat named My Daydream. The pair who are responsible for the return of the series to Pwllheli have been working hard with F4SA event organisers to bring the amazing on water event back.

CLASS 1 - CIRILLI TO DEBUT NEW TEAM LINE-UP IN ALICANTE 22 March 2009 (473 reads)
Duemme Offshore team boss, Domenico Cirilli, has revealed that his ‘new-look’ team for 2009 - owned by Duemme Yacht Brokers Spain S.L and based out of Torrevieja - will make its first appearance of the season at the Spanish Grand Prix in Alicante, 5-7 June.
Cirilli confirmed that he will throttle the Lamborghini-SKEMA V12-powered, Victory-built hull and that he will announce his new Spanish driver in the coming weeks. The news of the second confirmed Spanish team is a boost for Morten Eckhoff, the organiser of this year’s Spanish Grand Prix, which sees the Class 1 World Powerboat Championship returning to Spain for the sixth time in 16 years, and to Alicante for a second time.

F4SA - OFFSHORE RUN TO CELEBRATE COUGAR 40th YEAR 18 March 2009 (673 reads)
Leading boat manufacturer Cougar Powerboats will be holding a ‘Cougar Run’ on May 30th to celebrate their 40th anniversary in the marine industry.
The event will be held at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy and will attract a fleet of Cougar boats dating as far back as the late 60’s to present day. The company originally founded by Clive Curtis and James Beard in 1969 was aptly named after the cougar cat because of the catamaran designed hulls they produced. Cougar’s reputation for cutting edge technology and winning mono and multihull powerboat designs for commercial, military, racing and leisure purposes is still strongly recognized today in the work that they produce.

POWERBOAT P1 - BOHINC JOINS CANGIANO IN #88 OUTERLIMITS 18 March 2009 (463 reads)
Former Powerboat P1 Evolution class champion Giancarlo Cangiano is teaming up for with fellow veteran racer Hannes Bohinc for his assault on the 2009 crown. Bohinc will join the 2006 title winner and long-time technical manager Giovanni Carpitella in the #88 Outerlimits boat that finished second in the title chase last year.
Bohinc – a successful businessman with bison farming and online gambling among his successful ventures – is an experienced powerboat racer, with a strong record in endurance racing events. He’s one of only six drivers to have won the Cowes-Torquay-Cowes race twice, and is also a double winner of the Harmsworth Trophy. He returns to the Powerboat P1 championship following a successful 2005 season with the Wettpunkt.com Evolution class team.

SNOW AND ICE IN LAHTI FOR F1 PRE SEASON PARTY 17 March 2009 (354 reads)
The Finnish city of Lahti proved the perfect host as VIP’s, promoters, media and drivers enjoyed a three day feast of events as Idea Marketing staged their annual pre-season gathering.
The programme opening with a drinks party at the top of Lahti’s highest ski-jump and guests were treated to spectacular views over the snow clad city. It was then onto a restaurant that boasted a menu made up of locally produced products including the beer. The following morning was ‘activity day’ as the group boarded a coach and headed for the snowy wastes of a nearby forest where a row of snowmobiles were lined up.

POWERBOAT P1 - EVOLUTION CREW START NEW BELGIUM TEAM 16 March 2009 (400 reads)
#57 Centaurian Yachts crew members Pierre Colpin and Frank Hemelaer have formed a new Belgian-based Evolution-class team to contest the 2009 Powerboat P1 championship. The pair finished eighth in the Evolution title chase in 2008 alongside Nico Huybens in the Mercury-powered Outerlimits SV40 hull.
Colpin and Hemelaer have already secured a Fountain 42 hull, similar to the one used by the double Evolution title-winning #99 1st4boats.com Fountain Worldwide team, but will be using Mercury engines rather than Ilmor power as they start their first season in the boat this year.

CLASS 1 - SUPERBIKE STARS GET A FEEL FOR CLASS 1’S DOHA CIRCUIT 16 March 2009 (354 reads)
Stars from the World Superbike Championship took time out as they prepared for last weekends Qatar Grand Prix at Losail Circuit, swapping tarmac for water for a spin around Doha Bay.
Double race winner, Ben Spies, along with Noriyuki Haga and Max Biaggi were amongst a group of riders taken around Class 1s Doha Bay course by Qatar Team Principal and driver of Qatar 96, HE Sheikh Hassan bin Jabor Al-Thani in the Championships two Nor-Tech 3600 Supercat pace boats.
