Zapcat racers were again faced with perfect racing conditions today as they lined up on Bournemouth’s glorious beach for round 6 of 14 of the Zapcat National Championship.
Sun worshippers and powerboat racing fans flocked to the beach to catch all the action as the first green flag of the day dropped at 12noon. The onshore winds that had provided choppy swells for the racers to contend with in Saturdays racing had dropped and racing was not faltered by any red flag incidents as the racers showed their skills and team work that’s vital in Zapcat Racing.

ZAPCATS - CATFIGHTS IN BOURNEMOUTH 27 June 2009 (311 reads)
Bournemouth’s bustling beaches played host to round 5 of the Zapcat National championship today, and as hoards of people descended on the beach 26 teams lined up to do battle.
Conditions were perfect with blue skies and an onshore breeze producing Bournemouth’s famous chop to make racing that little bit more interesting for the teams. Organisers introduced a tactical course that would mean that flat out speed would not be enough racers had to think about when to take a tactical pit lap to get the clean water and hopefully take the lead.
In division 2’s heats Nine Lives, Zapcat 35 from Cornwall Charlie Brickle and Adam Bushrod got off to a storming start dominating their heats along with Seavation Zapcat 10, Alex Jordan and David Pay.

F4SA - HYDREX HONDA HOLD ON TO HOME LEAD 24 June 2009 (339 reads)
The Plymouth Sound was a hive of activity last weekend as the Honda Formula 4-Stroke Association came to town. The World’s largest 2 class series put on a spectacular performance as the crowds lined Plymouth’s Hoe to watch all the action.
Organisers had decided that due to a logistics problem later in the season Teams would race 3 of their championship Rounds at Plymouth providing even more action for the venues spectators. Conditions were perfect with blue skies and sunshine as Saturday’s action got underway with the first 225 class race. Where Team Williams got a superb start they held from start to finish, ahead of Team Lings and Germany’s Power of Dreams.

Around 30 Zapcat racing teams will return to Bournemouth’s bustling beach this weekend for Rounds 5 & 6 of the Zapcat National Championship.
Bournemouth’s beach provides the perfect location for fast furious action from these feisty little powerboats, with all the action happening right next to the Pier providing the public with an awesome viewing platform straight from the beach. The 2009 Zapcat National Championship was launched on Bournemouth’s Beach back in May when thousands lined the promenade to make the most of the British weather and all the action.

#43 Ikocasa and #10 Cigarette Smash Poker have been declared as the Turkish Grand Prix of the Sea title winners in the SuperSport and Evolution classes respectively.
The all-female crew of Shelley Jory and Audrien Ciantar in the Chaudron hull followed yesterday's success in the Sprint race by claiming the Turkish Grand Prix of the Sea title in SuperSport. Cigarette Smash Poker's victory in Sunday's Endurance race helped the Italian team of Luca Formilli Fendi and Matteo Nicolini take the Turkish Grand Prix of the Sea in the Evolution class by one point from rivals #33 Furnibo.

PLYMOUTH GRAND PRIX CONCLUDES HISTORIC RACE WEEKEND 21 June 2009 (246 reads)
Honda Formula 4-Stroke (F4SA) the World’s largest two class powerboat race series completed round two of the 2009 Grand Prix season in Plymouth this weekend June 20th and 21st.
The special event which celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the series which is backed by sponsor Honda attracted large spectator numbers who witnessed the 150hp and 225hp classes in some extremely close racing across Plymouth Sound. Saturday’s race produced some exciting results with the 225hp fleet in two races during the afternoon. There were no disputes and results were clear with lead boats Team Williams and Lings winning the first place spot respectively.

CLASS 1 - TANDBERG TEAMS UP WITH SELMER 20 June 2009 (248 reads)
Jorn Tandberg will line up with a third different driver in as many races when he starts the defence of his European title at the BMW Norwegian Grand Prix in Arendal, 17-19 July.
Tandberg will be joined in the cockpit of the Mercury V8-powered Welmax by fellow Norwegian, Kolbjorn Selmer, as he bids for a hat-trick of wins in Arendal, taking his first in 2006 with Christian Zaborowski and last year with Inge Brigt Aarbakke, en route to the European title which they snatched from Victory 1 by a point after winning the Romanian Grand Prix.

ZAPCATS - WAVES AND WIPEOUTS AT WATERGATE 15 June 2009 (339 reads)
Sunday was met with more of the same glorious conditions that the feisty Zapcats excel in and with two teams opting out for the days racing 23 Zapcats lined up for the thrills and spills ahead.
Cornish team Doyster Blue Sheets Racing Zapcat 73 got off to a strong start in Division 2 and took four wins out of their 5 heats in the day, unfortunately getting caught out by a wave in the fifth and flipping their Zapcat. In addition Team Championship Team Relentless 2; Dangerous Brothers Zapcat 74 and Nine Lives Zapcat 35 were battling strong to take top 2 positions in most of their heats. Blue Sheets Racing 1, Zapcat 03 continued their domination of the 2009 season taking another 5 heat wins in division one. Although several of the division one teams were pilling on the pressure including Team Speedy Hire, Zapcat 38 Daren Ford and the youngest co-pilot in the championship Sam Hunka.

CLASS 1 - MARITIMO TO MAKE MODIFICATIONS TO BOTH RACEBOATS 15 June 2009 (289 reads)
Following a successful test with their third ‘new generation’ Class 1 raceboat in Australia last week, throttleman Peter McGrath and a clutch of technicians will head to the team’s European base in Plymouth, England, next week to make the required modifications to Maritimo 11 and 12.
The team had a frustrating return to full-time racing in Class 1 at the season-opener in Qatar, and were hampered by one or two technical glitches and some handling issues - described by McGrath as ‘like driving a fork lift on ice’ - and which saw him and team newcomer, Giorgio Manuzzi, fail to make the Grand Prix after spinning out in pre-race practice and damaging their boat, and team-mates Tom Barry-Cotter and Pal Nilsen retiring on lap 5.
