ZAPCAT RACING - CELTIC CUP AND HOME NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP IN BRAEHEAD THIS WEEKEND
ZAPCAT RACING - CELTIC CUP AND HOME NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP IN BRAEHEAD THIS WEEKEND

Zapcat Racing returns to Scotland this weekend the 12th & 13th September for rounds 3 &4 of the Zapcat Celtic Cup. The World’s largest one design powerboat championship will see around twenty teams compete on the River Clyde at Braehead shopping Centre as part of the centre’s 10th Birthday celebrations to walk away with the title of Zapcat Celtic Cup winners.

The first two rounds of the Celtic Cup were held on the 22nd & 23rd August at Edinburgh were the racing was tight and action packed as hundreds lined the Ocean Terminal balconies to watch the action that saw current championship leaders walk away with the Edinburgh Grand Prix title and lead in the Zapcat Celtic Cup.

Racing will be high-speed and the  action will be close as the teams battle it out on the flat water, but  the cross winds on the River Clyde could create interesting conditions for the teams.

The 12th & 13th of September will also make up the inaugural Home Nation’s Tournament, that will see each Zapcat team nominate a home nation to race for with 4 entries from Scotland throwing down the gauntlet in the challenge to the other Zapcat Nations, from Ireland, England and Wales  to see who will reign victorious in the Home Nation’s Championship. The points from the top two boats from each Nation will be added together to declare a Zapcat Home Nation Champion Team.

This time racing will take place further down the river from the usual location of Bells Bridge at the area of the River Clyde right next to Braehead Shopping centre. Martin Jupp, Ex-Zapcat racer and Managing Director of ZCR is excited about the return of Zapcats to the River Clyde “Zapcat Racing always gets a fantastic reception on the Clyde, plus with racing this year at Braehead confined to a much smaller area, it really will be up close and personal for the racers, this is definitely going to be a weekend’s racing you cannot afford to miss!”.
