The newly-crowned double title-winning #44 Conam Yachts SuperSport team and the Chaudron boat-building firm celebrated their back-to-back championship success with a gala event at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre recently. Both team boss and throttleman Angelo Tedeschi and pilot Aaron Ciantar attended the event.
The star attraction of the evening’s festivities was the Mercury-powered #44 Conam Yachts Chaudron hull, which was raised over the heads of the 600-strong crowds. The event was also attended by Maltese Minister of Youth and Sport Clyde Puli and several other members of the Maltese parliament.
Although the #44 Conam Yachts entry is run by Tedeschi’s Italian-based Racing Project outfit, the outfit is also something of a Maltese success story. The Chaudron hull is manufactured in Malta by famed boat builder Charlie Ciantar’s family business, while Charlie’s son – Aaron – has a huge hand in the boat’s success, both as a member of the hull-building business, and as pilot of the #44 Conam Yachts entry.
The team won both the Sprint and Endurance races and the overall Grand Prix spoils in this year’s Maltese Grand Prix of the Sea in Valletta – Aaron Ciantar’s first success on home soil.
