POWERBOAT P1 - NUZZO TARGETS TOP SPOT FOR 2010
POWERBOAT P1 - NUZZO TARGETS TOP SPOT FOR 2010

#22 Big Sergio's charismatic pilot Alfredo Nuzzo is targeting title glory when the 2010 Powerboat P1 World Championship returns in April.

Nuzzo's team finished seventh in the SuperSport class last term and were dogged by poor reliability; something which the Italian hopes won't plague them again in 2010

He said: "We had bad luck throughout last season. We broke five propellers in total and only finished 50% of the races due to technical problems.

"We are viewing last season as a good learning platform and have gained a great deal of experience due to the difficulties we faced. That will definitely help us next year."

One race in particular stands out for Nuzzo. He added: "Without doubt, San Benedetto del Tronto was the best round for us. We broke our propellers and didn't have any spares at the time. We managed to find a pair of bronze ones which slowed us down a lot, yet somehow we secured our only podium finish. To this day I still don't know how we did it, but the adrenaline and emotion was unrivalled."

The Naples-based team are already planning ahead to next season with a view to winning the SuperSport championship. "We've just come back from Key West having watched some of the racing and visited various boat, engine and propeller manufacturers. I can't say too much at this point but there will be big changes in the Al and Al team for next season," he said.

"We definitely want to be more competitive this time around and we want the title! I believe we have the skills to do it and hopefully the fans won't be disappointed."
