Southampton based powerboat star Steve Curtis has added another ‘world’ title to his striking CV by winning the US Offshore World Championship.
'It was huge, a big win for us,' said Curtis. 'Tom and I have been coming here for years and have always had a monkey on our back, so it was great to finally get the championship.
It was a really good race with Talk-N-Trash. They were chasing hard, but everything went perfectly for us and they weren't going to catch us.' It is the latest in Curtis' long list of powerboating victories.
The world’s leading throttleman has been competing in the SBIP-APBA Offshore World Championship with driver Tom Abrams, in US-1 Reliable Carriers for three years, winning two National Championships and now the World Championship.
Curtis now turns his focus to the final two races of the Class 1 series which takes place in Dubai on 6 and 13 December. He currently resides fourth overall with the top stop out of his reach due to breaking down in Egypt whilst leading the race by over twenty seconds.
