US-based Powerboat P1 hull and engine manufacturers are set to boast a significant presence at this year’s Miami International Boat Show at the Miami Beach Convention Centre on February 12-16. The event is a key part of the build-up for both the US and international offshore racing seasons.
Evolution-class hull manufacturers Cigarette, Douglas Marine (which produces the Skater hulls), Fountain Powerboats and Outerlimits are all on the exhibitors list, alongside SuperSport-class hull builders Hustler, Formula and Donzi. Engine manufacturers Mercury, Ilmor, Chief Engines, Yanmar and Cummins Mercruiser are also set to attend the event.
At last year’s show, Outerlimits won the Best Boat Display award for their innovative unveiling of the SV43 hull that the #88 Kiton Outerlimits OSG Racing would use to take second place in the 2008 Evolution class championship, while Mercury won the Best Engine Accessory Display prize.
Ilmor also used the opportunity to celebrate its 2007 Evolution-class title with the #99 King Of Shaves Fountain Worldwide team by announcing that their consumer V10 engines would be badged with the Powerboat P1 logo for 2008.
