POWERBOAT P1 - CHAMPIONS RECEIVE TROPHY

Fountain Powerboats president and CEO Reggie Fountain, Ilmor High Performance Marine Engines president Paul Ray and #99 Fountain Worldwide 1st4boats.com crew members Craig Wilson and James Sheppard were on hand at this weekend’s Miami International Boat Show to receive their awards for winning the 2008 Evolution class title.

The quartet were formally presented with the handcrafted trophies – constructed from bronze and cherry wood by celebrated Italian artist Andreas Perathoner – by Powerboat P1’s commercial director Robert Wicks. “I’d like to thank Powerboat P1 for creating a fantastic event at each and every race,” said Wilson, who is president of Fountain’s international dealer, Fountain Worldwide. “I’d also like to think Fountain Powerboats, who have proved that they build the fastest V-bottom in the world.”

Reggie Fountain took the opportunity to thank Ilmor for providing the horsepower that has enabled the #99 Fountain Worldwide team to take back-to-back Powerboat P1 titles in its first two years in the series, while Ray re-affirmed the company’s desire to stay in motor racing. “Winning on the race track sells – we’ll be in this for a long time,” he said.

Fountain Worldwide also launched a limited special edition of the 42 Lightning hull at the Miami International Boat Show, which will be powered by the same Ilmor V10 engines as the #99 Fountain Worldwide 1st4boats.com entry. The ‘Powerboat P1 Special Edition’ will also be fitted with Arneson Surface Drives and an SCS Crash Box transmission, and comes in Powerboat P1’s distinctive blue, orange and white colour scheme.
