POWERBOAT P1 - ILMOR USES RACE KNOW-HOW FOR 'INDY' STERN DRIVE

Reigning Powerboat P1 champion engine manufacturer Ilmor High Performance Marine Engines has unveiled a new ‘Indy’ stern drive, built to capitalise on the company’s road racing success in the Indianapolis 500 motor race and its recent back-to-back title achievements in the Powerboat P1 series.

The all-new ‘Indy’ high-performance stern drive and transmission – launched at the recent Miami International Boat Show - has been designed to work perfectly with the Ilmor’s highly respected and acclaimed MV-10 range, which is based on the V10 engine found in the Dodge Viper road car.

Building on the racing heritage theme, the ‘Indy’ stern drive has been designed for premium efficiency and produced to withstand the rigors of high-performance boating. Its dry sump design in the transmission and main drive unit and twin-shaft lower unit means it has the smallest ‘bullet’ shape possible, meaning power loss is kept to a minimum.
