JERSEY SET TO MAKE IMPACT ON HONDA F4SA SERIES
JERSEY SET TO MAKE IMPACT ON HONDA F4SA SERIES

A team from Jersey will make their power-boating debut in this year’s Honda Formula 4-Stroke Powerboat Race Series which starts in Pwllheli, North Wales next month.

Taking the helm on 9 May will be Martin Colligan as driver and Guidon Du Val as navigator - who are both engineers at marine services company Fox Marine in Jersey. This could be the first step in bringing the race series to Jersey next year as Fox Marine co-owner Liam McDermott has ‘put the right people in touch with each other’ with a view to the series coming to Jersey in 2010.

The team first became familiar with the F4SA race series after attending a race in Liverpool last year. Since this time Martin and Gideon have been smitten with the series and are now excited to be joining the rest of the fleet this season.

The Team Fox boat built by Cougar Powerboats, manufacturer all of the 150 and 225hp boats in the F4SA series was delivered just a couple of weeks ago. Although the boat is still without a main sponsor McDermott is confident that the team will be out on the water in no time.

Both crew members are keen to put their skills to the test against the other drivers; with 35 years joint experience driving boats they are ready to race despite their lack of competitive experience.
