The Turkish Grand Prix of the Sea is less than three weeks away and Powerboat P1 officials joined Istanbul delegates at the official press conference at the lavish Çırağan Palace on Monday.
Addressing the Turkish media, sponsors and event officials, Powerboat P1 Chairman and Chief Executive Asif Rangoonwala outlined the momentous plans for Istanbul and his eagerness to show-off the Powerboat P1 World Championship to a new fanbase.
“Racing in the heart of one of the biggest cities in the world, on one of the busiest waterways, should make for spectacular viewing and attract excellent crowds along the stunning Bosphorus shoreline.”
Second Deputy Chairman of Istanbul Municipal Assembly, Göskel Gümüşdağ believes Powerboat P1 will be like nothing else ever staged in Istanbul adding, “It’s going to be an incredible event in Istanbul, with the spectacle uniting the people in their love of the sea.
“Powerboat P1 is the fastest race on the seas and we are all looking forward to welcoming the best pilots in the world to the Bosphorus.”
“Istanbul is a mosaic of cultures and it’s a great statement for the city to be attracting a special sporting competition, such as the Powerboat P1 World Championship, to help promote the Bosphorus to the world stage.”
The Turkish Grand Prix of the Sea runs from June 19-21 with free public viewing along the Bosphorus.
