This weekend sees Zapcat Racing head to Plymouth for the first time in 9 years of racing. Plymouth has played host to the likes of Class 1 and the Honda Formula 4-Stroke association always seeming to favour the larger Offshore classes, but now it’s our turn. - Never will Plymouth have seen so much close up action or so many races during 2 days.
Plymouth will provide a perfect location for spectators of the sport as the Hoe provides an awesome natural amphitheatre looking down on the racing from a superb angle, and it’s sheer rock faces and swells could bring some interesting racing conditions for the Zapcat competitors.
This weekend will see the half way point in the championship so any teams that are holding back a bit are going to have to step up to the mark now – you’ve had half a season to sort out your set ups and fine tune your team work, now it’s time to prove you can do it.
With the top two teams from last year dropping out the championship we all knew Blue Sheets Racing 1, Zapcat 03 Craig and Robbie had to pick up their game, which they have and they’ve raced really well so far this season, but remember it’s still along way to the end of the game and even the best can make mistakes, they’re not unbeatable (or do I have to come back and prove it!). Can one of the existing teams shake things up this weekend.
Team Suffolk, Zapcat 98, Pilot Greg Richardson is drafting in lighter co-pilot Adelle for the Plymouth event looking to make up some of the points they’ve lost at the last couple of rounds due to engine problems. With the Royal Marine Commandos State of Mind, Zapcat 37 hoping for a home advantage with their insight into conditions and the waters off Plymouth’s Hoe as will the rest of the Commandos team and The Exe Jets as they battle it out for home Grand Prix glory.
With the introduction of the new scoring system this year things have been really mixed up and there’s several battles going on through out the table with more movement between the divisions making racing throughout the fleet much more interesting, with no division 2 podium being the same at any round.
Team Lost Buoys, Randall & Payne, Zapcat 49 & Marin Subsea/Delta Jets, Zapcat 09 will be launching an attack on the Team championship campaign this weekend with Team Blue Sheets Racing Zapcat 03 & 11 sitting within easy grasp, with the boats 49 & 09 sitting in 3rd & 5th currently in the main championship they will be looking to improve on performances at the last round and steal the team campaign away from their rivals.
Interest in Zapcat Racing is growing all the time as we head to new venues and entertain awesome crowds. Plymouth will again see Zapcat Racing streamed live across the internet so that no one misses the action and in addition it will be broadcast live to Plymouth’s town centre’s big screens capturing the eye and attention of all those Saturday shoppers.
