POWERBOAT P1 - HARD WORK BEARING FRUIT FOR 2B1 RACING

Three races have resulted in three second-place finishes for the 2B1 Racing Team this season.

And while Pierre Colpin considers what might have been in terms of the Evolution-class title, the Dendermonde-born driver is adamant his team can take this year's experiences into the 2010 season.

"It is such a pity we could not race in Malta," reflects Colpin, who readily admits that reserve pilot Benjamin van Riet has been an influential figure in the camp this year. "Due to our late arrival in the Championship, we had to go to Cosworth to dyno test the engines which meant we were unable to race. Coupled with our problems in Italy last month, who knows where we could have been in the Championship?

"But we have learned a lot this season. Not only did we have to get used to our fantastic #33 Furnibo Fountain boat, but we also had to find the correct propellors, set up and so much more."

Having secured 90 points from each race in which they have competed thus far in 2009, Colpin believes race wins in Gothenburg and Sicily are not an unrealistic target.

"It is logical that we look forward to a victory and firmly believe I will fly the chequered flag this year.

"Even though there are still a couple of race weekends to go, I am already looking forward to the Championship next year. With the confidence we have and the knowledge we have gained this season, I am pretty sure we can go for the title."

Colpin also confirmed to Powerboat P1 that the 2B1 Racing Team has agreed a deal with Jarvis St. James Champagne that will see two logos of the champagne supplier featured on the Furnibo boat.
