We hit the beach early today and the weather was far better than yesterday. The sun was even shining. Dan and I were ready for a good days racing as we had dropped down to Div 2 and so were hoping to collect some decent points.
Surprise Surprise! Our boat was having another day and not performing correctly. We had, had discussions with Mick Pritchard whom confirmed that Dan driving was good taking great racing lines and the boat was sitting at just the right angle but we couldn't gain enough speed to catch the boats in front of us.
We had made it to the final and were setting off in 7th position. We were pleased to have had made the final and also the fact we were on the outside of the pack as the conditions were still choppy and so beach starts seemed to be better if you were on the outside of the pack to start with.
To add a little twist today, the officials decided to keep the track the same as yesterday but had introduced a short pit lap. We remembered this course from Bournemouth so we had discussed how we were going to take the pit lap in the final to give us an advantage as we did at Bournemouth.
We finished the final in 4th place. No podium and no valuable points! This had resulted in Bluesheets Racing handing over the Team Leaders bibs to Randle and Payne which caused us great pain!
Dan and I have decided that this new boat we have had this season has been a complete jinx.
We have decided to sell this boat and we will ensure that before the next round of the championship that will be held in Edinburgh we will have a new hull and our engine back in working order. We need to do something to gain some points back quickly.
