We finally took delivery of the new Blue Sheets surf bus.

It's a 2005 Mazda Bongo Friendee and it's just had it's first adventure; getting us to Dartmouth and back.

She's had the full AVA leisure conversion and we're looking forward to taking her out and staying in her next year to follow our race teams.

Needless to say, you'll be seeing her on the race circuit next year.

Bluesheets Racing return to Watergate Bay for the Zapcat National Championship finals. With only a couple of points between Bluesheets Racing and Team Lost Buoys to take the Team Championship, the weekend was looking like one of the tightest contests of the season. Read More »

No we’re not talking about Craig’s new hair cut!

Edinburgh was a new event this year, and the first time the Zapcat’s had been back to Scotland since 2007. Incorporating the weekend’s racing around the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the biggest Art’s festival in the world, I arrived in Edinburgh early Friday to take in some of the entertainment, and see what the City had to offer.

Barry Island was a new venue for Zapcat Racing so we hadn’t raced there before and the Bluesheets boys were all excited to race there as we are with any new venue.

When we arrived conditions looked perfect for rob and I with the onshore breeze picking up some large chop.

Edinburgh is approaching and we have sold our boat!

Dan and I have managed to find a buyer with the help of ZCR Ltd to sell our hull to. The boat will fly out to North Carolina USA tomorrow and this has resulted in us buying a new hull.

We picked up the new hull on Friday. Dan and his dad spent all day Saturday stripping and re-building our engine and the boat is finally ready to race.

When we said we were off to Barry Island everyone smirked and chuckled, so we didn’t hold out high hopes. How wrong we were; with a beautiful sandy beach and the friendliest locals we have ever found, Barry Island is a fantastic venue.

The weather was the only let down on Saturday, with a lumpy sea, wind and drizzle keeping spectator numbers low. There were a few flipped boats and men overboard, but overall outstanding racing from the majority of the teams.

We hit the beach early today and the weather was far better than yesterday. The sun was even shining. Dan and I were ready for a good days racing as we had dropped down to Div 2 and so were hoping to collect some decent points.

Surprise Surprise! Our boat was having another day and not performing correctly.

The day started with wet and windy conditions, and despite this locals still arrived to catch the action that ZapCat Racing had brought to Barry Island.

Because of the ever changing weather and tide conditions we found ourselves contending with plenty of chop that came and went.

Dan and I have just arrived at Barry Island ready for another fast, exciting and exhilarating Grand Prix for rounds 9 & 10 of the ZapCat National Championship.

There is a little bit of chop at the moment and to put it into a comparison I would say that the surf condition is very similar to our first Grand Prix held at Bournemouth.

All you can really say about Plymouth on Saturday was that it rained, rained and then rained some more… some Zapcats did some racing but mostly it rained.

Despite the hideous weather Nial and James who were back in div two (after Nials injured ribs at Bournemouth halted their racing) managed to get first place in every race including the final.
