FORMULA FUTURE POWERBOATS - THRILLS AND SPILLS IN KENT
Round 2 of the UKFFORC National series took place on the weekend of 15th-16th May 2010 at Allhallows on the North Kent coast.
Saturday gave our fleet a taster of the Thames conditions whilst Sunday left nothing to the imagination. With a blowing wind over tide both our junior and adult crews went home bruised, but exhilarated.
The E1500 weekend could have been anybodies with E10, E15 and E75 changing places several times each race. With 2 wins apiece Phil Bennett + Nicky Grove and Jake Swann + Ben Kendall started the final meaning business. It was the final ‘pit lap’ that was the deciding factor giving the team big666 boys the win.
In the E900 class the Girlpower girls spent more time airborne than on the water but put the win down to their singing! Sam Whittle was flying solo without his dad Keith but coped admirably even when experiencing technical problems with his engine.
It was all change for our F400/S250 crews with Ben Pocknell and Tom Newman taking the weekends crown to put them back at the top of the class whilst the F44 girls certainly took the award for the loudest boat of the weekend with squeals and shouts coming from it every time it passed the safety boat!
Ben Kendall came out of retirement for the weekend and took home the trophy for the S250 class. Bring on round 3 in Poole in June.
